The Hario Coffee Syphon Technica works on the basis of physical laws: Water is heated and rises as water vapour into the upper part of the vessel. The water there condenses and during this time the air in the lower container decreases: there it becomes hot and a negative pressure develops. The filter is placed in the upper container, covered with coffee powder and lightly stirred. If the heat source is now removed, the hot air reduces its volume, a vacuum is created and the coffee is sucked down through the tube.
