Hario Technica Siphon Coffeemaker
This is where the laws of physics come in.
The water in the round bottom container is heated over a heat source and rises as steam to the upper container. The heat source may be a gas or spirit flame.
The water condensates in the top glass container. In the process, the air in the bottom container is reduced. The bottom container is now getting very hot creating a vacuum.
After putting the cloth or paper coffee filter in the top container, covering it with ground coffee and slightly stirring it, the heat source is removed. The hot air decreases in volume and the above-described vacuum sucks the coffee downwards through the connecting tube. With thorough cleaning, the filter can be reused several times. The effort is rewarded by full coffee aromas.
