Green Guatemala Coffee – full-bodied and balanced
The Central American country of Guatemala still has some active volcanoes and humid, tropical climate zones. A year-round mild climate with day temperatures between 18 und 28 degrees Celsius at altitudes between 1,300 and 1,800 metres above sea level provides ideal conditions for the Arabica plantations.
The coffee culture dates back to the 18th century, and today approximately 250,000 hectares are covered by coffee plantations. In the high altitudes of up to 2000 metres above sea level, the annual intense rainy season starts at the beginning of May and continues until October.
It is this climate that contributes to the particularly spicy aromas and smoky undertones of Guatemala coffee. The main harvesting period for the coffee cherries is between August and April, the green coffee beans are shipped between November and June.
